“As your TELAmbassadress I had the honour of visiting the 2022 TELA Exhibit located within the Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Textile Research Institute (DOST-PTRI), earlier this year for our Philippine Tropical Fabrics (PTF) month,” Arnold said in an Instagram post.

“The beautiful indigo-dyed modern Filipiniana I was wearing was made from 100% Philippine silk which was reared by the partner cocoon producers from Misamis Oriental, handwoven by Dela Cruz House of Piña, and was delicately designed by the homegrown fashion brands, BAYO and Unica Hija,” she added.

The exhibit surely presented various type of Philippine textile materials that will inspire you to learn and embrace more the Filipino fashion from indigenous materials to modern wearable designs.

These Pinoy-made outfits made using DOST-PTRI’s yarns, fabrics, and technologies as output of the institute’s research and development programs. This exhibit demonstrates the applicability and huge potential of the Philippine Tropical Fabrics as materials to dress the Filipinos.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by DOST-PTRI Director Celia Elumba and her team, Gateway Mall property manager Lizette Villanueva, and some of the Tela Pilipinas partner exhibitors from Panublix and Creative Definitions.

The Quezon City Performing Arts Development Foundation, Inc. dance troupe also provided entertainment with their Pinoy folk dance performances.

The 2022 Tela Pilipinas Exhibit is open for public viewing at the Gateway Mall in Araneta City from June 12 to 17.
