The highly acclaimed Japanese artist, Takuma Tanaka, is set to make his mark on New York City in Fall 2023, as he prepares to present a series of captivating art activations and presentations throughout the city. Tanaka’s unique artistic style, shaped by his Japanese heritage, global experiences, and artistic background, promises to introduce New Yorkers to a world of contemporary art unlike any other. His works delve into the formal techniques of his predecessors, offering a fresh perspective on the post-pandemic contemporary world.

Trained in art theory by the contemporary artist Kenjiro Okazaki at Blum & Poe, Tanaka’s creative explorations encompass diverse themes such as robotics, landscape design, and architecture. The artist’s presentations will feature time capsules of small paintings, drawings, and delightful artistic surprises scattered across New York City.

Over his twenty-year career, Tanaka has continuously evolved his painting techniques, delving into facial structures, portraiture, immersive landscapes, and architectural still-life geometry, forging his own artistic path. His works beautifully blend traditional craftsmanship with modern storytelling, resulting in a fusion of ancient Japanese painting and calligraphy techniques with a digital twist that highlights essential human themes. Tanaka’s art will be displayed at various locations across the city, commencing in September 2023 with a formal presentation at the esteemed Salmagundi Art Club. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to experience Tanaka’s art firsthand and interact with the artist himself, gaining insight into his innovative fusion of traditional and contemporary art forms. A formal meet and greet with the artist is scheduled for September 5th, 2023 at the Salmagundi Club, followed by a media party at the Jun Lan Club, formerly known as the Limelight. The evening will also be an exploration of historical and contemporary concepts, featuring the works of talented creatives such as Mark Enger, Michael Angelo, Kora Mancini, and a captivating sculpture by international Spanish artist Matias Di Carlo.
