170 Young Filipino Creators Get a Closer Look at Marvel’s Creative World
Marvel editor C.B. Cebulski shares the creative process behind some of the world’s biggest stories at Globe’s Marvel U.
What does it actually take to create a Marvel story?
For 170 Filipino high school and college students, the answer came straight from someone who has spent years working behind the scenes. Globe’s Marvel U returned for its second year, bringing aspiring artists and storytellers together with C.B. Cebulski, Marvel’s Editor for Asia Originals and former Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief.
Held as part of Globe’s ongoing efforts to give young Filipinos access to creative experiences beyond the classroom, Marvel U gave students a closer look at how Marvel develops its stories, characters, and visual worlds.
The event follows last year’s MARVEL U: Discover Your Superpower, which brought together more than 100 students for a masterclass with Cebulski.
How a Marvel Story Comes Together
Cebulski took students behind the creative process, sharing what goes into bringing comic book stories to the Marvel Cinematic Universe while staying connected to the original material.
He also talked about the artists, writers, and ideas that have helped shape Marvel over the years. For students who already spend their free time drawing characters, writing stories, or simply obsessing over comics, it was a chance to hear how that work happens on a much bigger scale.
But Cebulski’s advice wasn’t about copying the Marvel formula. Instead, he encouraged the students to develop their own style and trust their ideas.
“Great stories can come from anywhere,” Cebulski said, urging young creators to keep developing their own voice and craft.
From Listening to Drawing
The students also got to put those lessons to work during a live 5G Speed Drawing activity, turning the session into something hands-on rather than simply a masterclass. There was also a meet-and-greet with Cebulski, giving participants the chance to ask questions, talk comics, and share their own interests with the Marvel editor.

For Thea, a student from the University of Santo Tomas–Manila, the experience was a reminder of why she wants to keep pursuing art. The session, she said, inspired her to become a better artist, especially after hearing Cebulski talk about his past work with legendary Marvel artists and the impact of their contributions.
Making Creative Opportunities More Accessible
For Globe, Marvel U is part of a bigger effort to connect young Filipinos with people, ideas, and experiences that can help them explore their interests.
“Filipino students have so much creativity and potential,” said KD Dizon, Chief Marketing Officer of Globe Telecom. “Through Marvel U, we want to give them experiences that broaden their perspective and encourage them to keep creating and pursuing their passions.”
And that’s what made the event especially relevant for students who are already interested in the arts. A career in comics, illustration, animation, writing, or visual storytelling can start with something as simple as drawing for fun or coming up with a character in a notebook. Getting to hear from someone who has worked with some of the biggest names in comics simply gives that interest a little more room to grow.
Through programs like Marvel U, Globe continues to create opportunities for students to connect with creative communities and explore where their interests might take them next.
