I have a beauty confession to make: I want to have moisturized and supple skin but the mere thought of slathering lotion in such a humid climate does not sound ideal to me.

Since enduring the sweaty and sticky feeling is not an option for me, I had to think of a way to have moisturized skin without using lotion. I figured that instead of waiting after showering to lock in moisture, perhaps I can just use a hydrating bath product to combat dry skin.

With that in mind, I proceeded with my experiment. I bought bath gels and creams from big skincare brands, however, I still have to use lotion afterward because I feel like my skin is still dehydrated.

But then my skin hydration game changed when I tried a body rinse from beauty brand Lee Strachan Australia

Lee Strachan Australia is a natural skincare brand that offers unique products with pure and natural ingredients sourced from different parts of the world– and have been certified vegan and natural in Australia . It offers a wide range of organic skincare products that promotes using vegan, natural ingredients for safe, healthy skincare routines.

Oil-based Body Rinse

Lee Strachan Australia’s Grape Seed Hydra Milk Body Rinse (retails at 680php) gives me the non-sticky moisturization that I like. I am quite surprised with the lightness of its formula given the fact that it is infused with grape seed oil and olive oil. You use it after washing your body with soap– like capping off your spa-like bath at home.

I was quite skeptical when I saw that the formula has oils in it even if it promises the antioxidant properties of vitamins A, D, and E. I have oily skin and I suffered from backne when I was younger — and even occasionally as an adult. My skin is so sensitive and easily breaks out from using the wrong products.

But then again, I understand that there has been a misconception about using oil-based products on oily skin. With the right products, oily skin can benefit from oil-based beauty products, too. I did my own research on the beauty benefits of grapeseed oil and olive oil since they are the key ingredients of the body rinse.

According to my research, grapeseed oil preserves the skin’s youthfulness because of its vitamin E and omega-6 fatty acid content. Its anti-inflammatory properties can even help fight off acne-causing bacteria. That was a relief for me since I am still worried about backne breakouts.

Olive oil is a powerhouse ingredient as well. It has antibacterial properties like vitamins A and E that help remove bacteria from the skin.

Reading that information was like a sign from heaven. From the get-go, I want to say that it was the right decision that I gave it a try.

Trying Out the Lotion-Free Lifestyle

From the bottle, it said the product promises shiny skin and a lotion-free lifestyle. That was intriguing because it was exactly what I saw looking for.

I use this body rinse twice a day. Following the instructions on the bottle, I use regular soap (in my case an antibacterial soap), rinse, and then use the body rinse to seal in the moisture.

The body rinse looks like oil from its bottle but the interesting thing is that it is activated when mixed with water. It doesn’t foam too much but turns into a rich body gel that feels great on the skin. I massage the body rinse for two minutes and just let it sit and melt on my skin. I like the fact that it’s not heavy, nor does it have a strong, overwhelming scent.

After showering, I instantly notice that my skin is already well hydrated. It feels soft and looks bright.  There are no white marks when I scratch my skin to check for dry skin. For me, that’s already an indication that I am moisturized enough and am good to go.

Great for Everyday Use

I have been using the body rinse consistently for a week and so far I enjoy my lotion-free lifestyle. It’s perfect for those who want moisturized skin without stickiness. Plus, I appreciate that it elevated my regular shower experience to a spa-like session. It’s a win-win for me! My skin has indeed become more supple, hydrated, smooth and oh so fragrant!
