Manila, Philippines — Japanese global apparel retailer Uniqlo ends International Women’s Month strong with the launch of LifeWear for Her, an initiative that focuses on supporting and uplifting women through comfortable innerwear fit for any age, size and lifestyle.

To mark the launch of the collection, an exclusive gathering was held recently at the Uniqlo Manila Flagship store where guests congregated and enriched their minds as they listened to three special guests with inspiring stories on women empowerment.

Happy Skin co-founder Jacqe Yeungtian-Gutierrez was one of the guest speakers, and she shared her insights on being a strong entrepreneur.

“What I encourage everyone to do is to really take a risk. When you give me an option, I will give you the option that will give you the best bang for your buck. It may not be the easiest thing to do but I will always take the risk. I think that has been my philosophy as an entrepreneur.”

She also mentioned her take when it comes to fashion. “Wearing professional looking clothes and being very comfortable in it is important, and I feel that Uniqlo has got that to a tee.”

Kelley Go, co-founder of Auro Chocolate, who has closely worked with farmers knows so well how they are overworked and undervalued.

Having this in mind, she sees her business as an opportunity to “pay it forward, backward sideways and in all the ways that we can to uplift women in all that we do. That is the great privilege and responsibility that I feel I can share.”

Another guest speaker was Monica Aclan, Deputy Executive Director of Project Pearls, a non-profit organization that aims to help the poorest of the poor children by giving them PEARLS: Peace, Education, Aspiration, Respect, Love and Smiles.

Aclan inspired the audience with her encounters with women from a charcoal factory in Tondo. She recognizes these women as truly impactful. “These women have their own challenges in life, helping their family working so hard. But on weekends, they would find time to volunteer in our programs in the community. They are the core women that really help in our feeding programs, in the tutorials, in the scholarship program. So they are really empowered, so we just help them utilize that power with the right opportunity so that they can improve their skills.”

Through the years, Uniqlo has remained steadfast in its dedication to providing a safe and nurturing space for women. Committed to enhancing the lives of all women through the power of clothing, the brand creates pieces aimed to empower Filipinas and to keep them comfortable as they achieve their goals and navigate their everyday lives. From the subtle day-to-day changes to all the monumental life changes, these innerwear pieces are made to suit every woman’s lifestyle and personality.
