BGC, Philippines — Miss Nicaragua Sheynnis Palacios was crowned the Miss Universe 2023 at the culmination of the annual Miss Universe beauty pageant. The 72nd Miss Universe event took place at the Jose Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.

Sheynnis Palacios made history as the first-ever queen to take home the Universe crown for the Latin American country.

Here are three interesting things about our new Miss Universe winner:

Born To Be A Queen

Sheynnis Alondra Palacios Cornejo was born on May 30, 2000, in Managua, Nicaragua. The natural beauty boasts of a rich trove of accomplishments in pageantry as she’s won prestigious beauty competition titles even from her teenage years.

Standing tall at 5 feet and 11 inches, Sheynnis was crowned Miss World Nicaragua 2021, and went on to compete at the Miss World 2021 contest wherein she was part of the Top 40.

In 2016, she was named Miss Teen Nicaragua and represented her country at the Teen Universe pageant 2017 where she was named one of the Top 10 finalists.

She Is A Communications Degree-Holder

Sheynnis finished a degree in Mass Communication from the Universidad Centroamericana, the first private university in Central America founded in 1960.

The beauty queen also proves to be athletic as she played as a varsity volleyball player for the university.

She Is A Media Personality

Aside from being a pageant titleholder, Sheynnis is a model, a community development professional and a TV show host.

She is the host of the Canal 11 Nicaragua morning magazine show Al Dia, wherein she uses her platform to engage with her audience and inspire people. She is also producing and hosting content about mental health awareness in her own project called “Understand Your Mind”.
