I have always suffered from having oily and acne-prone skin since I can remember. Both my mom and dad have the same skin type, so I just accepted my fate and learned to appease the skin gods whenever possible. I oil up almost every hour, and it is extra tough since we live in a tropical country. This is why I always keep my oil control films handy because I read somewhere that “oiliness is next to poverty!”. Ouch.

It’s definitely a love-hate relationship with my skin pretty much my whole life. I thought that by the time I got to my late 20s, acne would stop appearing on my skin. I was dead wrong! Now I’m dealing with adult acne. Don’t get me wrong. I have good days when my skin is all relaxed and just giving out a shiny sheen. But having to deal with a bump or two every month can be embarrassing for a 29-year-old like me. I had the worst acne flareup on my forehead and cheeks when lockdown happed. I couldn’t do anything since all facial houses are closed. My dermatologist told me that the breakout is bound to happen since my hormones have gone awry, and my stress levels have gone high.

Thankfully, a good friend told me about Juicy Beauty’s Tea Tree Oil Soap. Although the brand is still on its soft launch phase here in Manila, I gave it a try.

This tea tree oil soap comes in this cute black zip bag, and I love it! It has a great list of skincare ingredients. One is glycerin, which is a known moisturizing agent. And the main star, the tea tree oil, has antibacterial properties that are known to effectively cure acne. I remember thinking, this sounds promising enough for me!

How I Used It

When I saw that it came in this kind of huge bar, I immediately used it and cut them into small pieces (yes, I am that kind of person). I placed some of the slabs I am yet to use back in the bag so they won’t melt. I love the smell because it reminds of, well, herbal soaps. It feels so good to lather it on skin especially when it becomes foamy.

I wash my face with this tea tree oil soap by Juicy Beauty in the morning and at night. The bulk of my skincare routine from before has still remained the same since I do not want to shock my skin by using different products all at once. I’ve come to find out that that this soap actually works well with different skincare products I have.

After washing my face with the soap in the morning, I follow it up with the COSRX AC Collection Blemish Spot Clearing Serum, the Skin 1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule, and the UV Perfect Bright Face Milk SPF50+ (sun protection is a must even at home, folks!)

For my evening skincare routine, I use the soap and supplement it with the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Acne Treatment System toner and blemish cream. I seal everything with a thin cream of Klair’s Midnight Blue Calming Cream.

The Results

I have been using the Tea Tree Oil Soap by Juicy Beauty for one week now, and my skin looks and feels great! The soap stopped the formation of new bumps which I’ve realized I ‘ve been getting from wearing a protective mask, or maskne! It looks like the soap can also calm my hormonal acne that flares up when I am about to have my period.

I am a happy customer! I’m glad I got to discover the Tea Tree Oil Soap by Juicy Beauty.  This soap is such a great addition to my beauty product arsenal, and I know that it will become a staple in my daily skincare routine!
